A file browser for Mac that sorts correctly, shows every drive, and stays out of your way
Fnav lists folders fast, keeps your view settings for each folder, and puts your home folder and every drive on one page.
Three things that get in the way in Finder
Sorting you can trust
Every sort has name as its second key, so files with the same date never jump around. Date Added, Date Created and Date Modified each mean what they say, and numbers in names sort as numbers.
Every drive in one place
The home page shows your user folder and each external drive with its free space. The go up button works everywhere, even at the top of a drive.
Settings that stay put
Pick a sort and a view once. Fnav keeps it for that folder or for the whole drive, and never writes hidden files into your folders.
Explorer feel, Mac native
If you came from Windows, the layout will feel familiar: view settings in a strip at the top, counts and sizes in a bar at the bottom, tabs, and two panes side by side.
It is still a Mac app. The Mac shortcuts you know work, the space bar opens Quick Look, and copies use the same engine as the system.
Two editions
The Mac App Store edition is a one time purchase. The Full edition is a direct download with a subscription or a lifetime license, and adds the parts the App Store does not allow.

Questions
›Does Fnav replace Finder?
No. Fnav runs next to Finder and never quits or hides it. You can make Fnav the app that opens folders in the Full edition, and turn that off again at any time.
›Does Fnav look at my files?
Only on your Mac. File names, file contents and folder listings never leave it. See the privacy page for what the app does send.
›Which macOS do I need?
macOS 15 Sequoia or later.
